Frequently Asked Questions

What is Kasol famous for and what are the main things to do there?

Known as the "Mini Israel of India," Kasol is famous for its vibrant café culture along the Parvati River, Israeli cuisine (shakshuka, falafel, hummus), scenic pine forest walks and bohemian handicraft markets.

Is free food (Langar) served at Manikaran Sahib?

Yes. The Gurudwara community kitchen serves fresh, hot Langar (free meals) round the clock to all visitors. Interestingly, the rice and lentils for the langar are cooked directly using the natural thermal energy of the boiling geothermal springs.

Yes. The Gurudwara features separate enclosed indoor hot spring pools (kunds) for men and women to bathe comfortably. Towels and a change of clothes should be carried along.

Is it safe to swim or step directly into the Parvati River?

No. Entering or swimming in the Parvati River is strictly prohibited. The current is extremely strong, cold and unpredictable along the riverbanks near Kasol and Manikaran.
